Terry hints at divided Blues camp

Chelsea captain John Terry has hinted at a divided Stamford Bridge dressing room and revealed his shock at the sacking of manager Luiz Felipe Scolari.

“He had my full support. I’m sure two or three of the other players would say the same,” said the centre-half.

“I was shocked by what’s happened. I have sympathy for Scolari. He’s a great man but we weren’t playing well and that unfortunately falls on his head.

“Maybe it should have fallen more on us the players,” added Terry.

Chelsea have taken just eight points from their last six Premier League games and have fallen to fourth place in the league.
“At end of the day it’s all about results, and unfortunately for Scolari they didn’t come,” added Terry.

Russia coach Guus Hiddink is expected to take over from Scolari but Terry admitted that he was glad to have the distraction of playing for England as Chelsea decide on their next manager.

England are in Spain to play a friendly against the Euro 2008 champions at Seville’s Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan stadium on Wednesday.

“What’s happening back home is at the back of my mind but I am focusing on the game ahead,” said Terry.

“It is a bit of a relief to get away for a couple of days because my main concern should now be England.

“The manager [Fabio Capello] has stressed he wants everyone focused on the game ahead. I want to put in a good performance personally and hopefully the squad can do the same.”

Chelsea agreed a compensation package with Scolari and his backroom staff, the club confirmed on Tuesday evening.

Although no details were given, some reports have suggested Scolari could walk away with about £7.5m.

Chris Brown Arrested After Alleged Rihanna Assault

February 9, 2009 - One Response

Grammy day was supposed to be a glittery affair for R&B’s reigning It couple, Chris Brown and Rihanna. But things went horribly amiss.

About the time Brown was scheduled to be singing “Forever” onstage at Los Angeles’ Staples Center, he was instead detained by police, being questioned for allegedly roughing up Rihanna.

Brown, 19, turned himself in at the Wilshire station around 6:30 p.m. and was booked on suspicion of making criminal threats. The case will now be sent to the district attorney’s office and further charges could be filed. He was released from jail after posting $50,000 bail.

Sources tell E! News that the alleged victim was Rihanna, 20, and that she suffered visible bruises on her face during an altercation that took place hours earlier. Both in turn balked on scheduled Grammy performances.

A spokeswoman for Brown’s label declined comment. Rihanna’s publicist, Amanda Silverman, would only tell E! News that the 20-year-old “Disturbia” singer was involved in an unspecified traffic mishap. “Rihanna is well,” the rep said. “Thank you for concern and support.”

Per department policy, police declined to identify the alleged victim in the incident, which occurred about 12:30 a.m. in the Hancock Park area, apparently as the two were heading home from Clive Davis’ annual pre-Grammy bash, where they had been all smiles.

In a statement, police say Brown and his companion “became involved in an argument. After stopping his car, Brown and the woman got out and the argument escalated. The woman suffered visible injuries and identified Brown as her attacker.”

By the time officers arrived on the scene, Brown had split.

Rihanna, whose full name is Robyn Rihanna Fenty, decided against singing a medley of “Disturbia” and “Live Your Life” at tonight’s awards. Likewise, Brown scrapped his scheduled performance of “Forever.”

“We’re sorry she is unable to join us this evening,” said the Recording Academy. A virtually identical statement was issued for Brown’s absence.

Brown and Rihanna were up for dueling Pop Collaboration With Vocals awards, Brown for his duet with Jordin Sparks on “No Air,” Rihanna with Maroon 5 for “If I Never See Your Face Again.” Brown was also contending for Male R&B Vocal Performance for “Take You Down.”

Backstage, Anthony Hamilton, winner of the Traditional R&B Vocal
rihana
Grammy with Al Green, said his pal was pressed into emergency service “about an hour and a half before the preshow.”

Green crooned “Let’s Stay Together” with assists from Justin Timberlake and Keith Urban.

Asked if old-pro Green really was able to take the stage on such short notice, Hamilton suggested the R&B icon was practicing last night.

Said Hamilton, “He knew something could happen.”

Obama Administration Will Unveil Bank Bailout Plan on Tuesday

February 8, 2009 - Leave a Response

During our interview on “This Week” President Obama’s top economics adviser Larry Summers said the Obama administration will unveil its bank bailout plan on Tuesday of this week.

Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner had planned to unveil how the remainder of the $700-billion in TARP money will be spent on Monday.

However Summers said the administration wants to keep the focus on the stimulus wrangling.

“There’s a desire to keep the focus on the economic recovery program,” Summers said. “The focus will be on increasing credit flow with transparency, accountability and consistency we haven’t seen so far. Yes there will be support for struggling banks, the credit markets more generally, and support and pressure to assure these needless foreclosures are confined.”

CHEMBROVICH:
The last Presidential election made it abundantly clear that Sen. McCain is not a nice man”and can be very nasty! He can totally disregard the truth in favor of expediency. After he lost, in the initial search for a post-election role and penance, he took a trip with Sen. Linsey Graham to Chicago to meet with Obama. If there was an initial uncertainty about whether or not to mend his ways remained, it evaporated decisively in favor of his old ways during the past days of Senate debate about the stimulus economic recovery package although Obama has sought to make him an ally. During the Presidential campaign, McCain,s former biographer Elizabeth Drew, in Politico, September 17/08, questioned his honesty and told us that he is not a principled man. Now water has returned to its level. He cannot bear to see the stimulus package he sought to sabotage succeed with the vote of three Republicans: in his view, “this is not bi-partisanship.” McCain was prepared, however, to include in his bi-partisan resume his co-sponorship of an immigration bill most Republicans failed to support. Ever since Obama took office, McCain seemed determined to be an obstacle on the big and urgent issues facing the nation. In doing so, he has once again aligned himself with extremists of his party. We are seeing again vintage McCain”erratic, belligerent, confrontational, intemperate and not sufficiently reflective. The Mummy has returned!

deanbob : I just can’t say enough bad things about the polits… Ever since they established the Federal Reserve and ratified the 16th Amendment of the Constitution, we the people have been their slaves and without reducing the impacts of the business cycles. The booms and busts are worse than ever before because the polits have been able to spred their criminal corrosion into the economy and into people lives for 100 years. The progressive era is a failure: World War One, Communism and Facism, the Great Depression, World War Two, the Cold War, terrorism, and now the Great Recession an almost 2nd Great Depression. Lets for once use government for our benefits and once back on track jettison the progressives, the new deal, and the great society…..

I add that not only the polits but the media are as also responsible for the failures of last 100 years as the media are the propaganda organs of the polits. they are like the horse and carrage with us paying for their fantasies… ….

\we are in trouble because garbage like 2-left-feet Pilosi, Crook Reid, bent-over Franks, tax-cheat Timmy, tax-cheat Daschy, Schmuct Scumer, Chappaquiddick Teddy, stupid Bernanke, liar Paulson use our tax dollars to fund their dream societies that have nothing to do with the people who pay the taxes. the polits use our money to fund their disney world fantisies with complete disregards to us the people who pay the bills. WE’VE HAD ENOUGH! ENOUGH!

GiGi:Now when you stop laughing and catch your breath, look at who they were bailing out in the stimulus and it sure was not average workers. They wanted to bail out Hollywood, spend fortunes for the Arts, handout condoms on every street corner(especially San Fransico) and so on. In other words, you the average worker who lost your retail or factory job or whatever, can go fly a kite and hope the democrats help you. Of course they will never help you. It works like this—the republicans bail out bankers and the democrats bailout Nancy Pelosi’s buddies which sure are not average workers. Nancy, of course, flys on a private jet provided by the government because she is the Queen Bee in waiting. You all have been had by the corruptness of Pelosi, Reid, Paulson, Bush and Geithner. Get use to it comrade for there is much more to come because you do not have the guts to stand up to the Bolsheviks.

84 Killed in Deadliest-Ever Australian Wildfires

February 8, 2009 - Leave a Response

Entire towns have been seared off the map by wildfires raging through southeastern Australia, burning people in their homes and cars and raising the death toll to 84 on Sunday in the deadliest blaze in the country’s history.

Searing temperatures and wind blasts created a firestorm that swept across a swath of the country’s Victoria state, where at least 700 homes were destroyed and all of the victims died. More victims were expected to be found, officials said.

“Hell in all its fury has visited the good people of Victoria,” Prime Minister Kevin Rudd said. “It’s an appalling tragedy for the nation.”

The skies rained ash and trees exploded in the inferno, witnesses said, as temperatures of up 117 F (47 C) combined with blasting winds to create furnace-like conditions.

The town of Marysville and several hamlets in the Kinglake district, both about 50 miles (100 kilometers) north of Melbourne, were utterly devastated.

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) – Jerry Springer is leaving his position as host of NBC’s summer hit “America’s Got Talent.” The TV personality said he’s departing the show to focus on a summer theater production and his syndicated talk show. “Got Talent” is the summer’s most-watched show. The departure risks shaking up a formula that has worked well for NBC at a time when the network is trying to stem ratings erosion. The network did not comment on its plans for a successor.
